Please click "Register" to volunteer for one of the following positions and shifts: COVID-19 Notes: We are planning for the safest event possible to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus. We hope that by the event time, most people are vaccinated, however we cannot guarantee that everyone in attendance has been fully vaccinated. In order to maintain the important one-to-one matching model, we are planning a hybrid indoor/outdoor event in a larger space, incorporating social distancing when possible, and incorporating PPE according to CDC recommendations. _____________________________________________________________________ POSITION DESCRIPTIONS:PRE-EVENT SETUP-NIGHT BEFORE: Mon. Sep. 20, 5:30pm-8pm - **Heavy lifting required.** The night before the event and early morning on the day of, volunteers are needed to assist with set-up. Duties range from setting up service areas to assembling take-home kits to posting signage. This shift is suitable for volunteers under 18. PRE-EVENT SETUP-SAME DAY: 7am-8:30am - **Heavy lifting required.** The morning of the event, volunteers are needed to assist with set-up. Duties range from setting up service areas, tables and chairs, to monitoring parking traffic to posting signage. This shift is suitable for volunteers under 18. CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT STATION: 8am-3pm - The check-in/check-out station is the guest entry and exit point. Volunteers assist guests by discussing available service options and filling out a check-in form. If this is your first time volunteering at this event, you will receive training as a part of your shift. Volunteers must be over 18 years of age to fill this shift. GENERAL ALL DAY: 8am-3pm - As a general volunteer, you’ll help where help is needed most. Whether it’s lunch setup, jumping in to help with line management, helping with event logistics or many other areas. These volunteers should be willing to move to different service areas whenever necessary. If this is your first time volunteering at this event, you will receive training as a part of your shift. This shift is suitable for volunteers under 18. POST-EVENT: 2:30-4:30pm - Clean Up/Tear Down. This service is a good option for those who can leave work a little early but are unable to take the entire day off. The shift take place at the end of the event, and duties may include some heavy lifting. This shift is suitable for volunteers under 18. NURSING VOLUNTEER: 7:45-3:30pm - The nursing table provided a place for guests to get vitals checked, and helps to streamline the medical, dental and vision services. Volunteers should be medically trained to take vitals and have own stethoscope and watch. There will be coordination with a planning committee members in advance of the event. **None of these positions require training prior to the shift time. ** Project Homeless Connect Kansas City (PHCKC) is a free, annual event that connects homeless individuals and families with the vital services and care they need to move their lives forward, all on one day and in one place. There, we connect homeless Kansas Citians with difficult-to-obtain services including medical and dental services, vision care, identification procurement, food and nutrition benefits, employment assistance, housing assistance and more.
