BROOKLYN, NY — A violent drug deal gone wrong in Brooklyn ended with pedestrians scrambling to pick up weed thrown onto the street from an Eighth Avenue rooftop, according to police.
The chaotic incident unfolded around 11:15 p.m. when a 29-year-old met with several people to sell marijuana on the roof of an Eighth Avenue building near 46th Street, police said.
The group of supposed buyers instead tried to steal the garbage bag full of marijuana and attacked the 29-year-old, taking out a gun and punching and kicking him, police said.
The 29-year-old eventually threw the garbage bag from the rooftop, "causing it to scatter onto the sidewalk in front of the building," police said.
"Unknown pedestrians removed alleged quantities of the marijuana and fled in unknown directions," police wrote in a release.
The group who tried to steal the marijuana on the rooftop fled from the building in a black BMW sedan, police said.
The 29-year-old was taken to the hospital with lacerations on his face and bruises, police said.
Cops released video and photos from the incident. They are looking for the suspects in the video on attempted robbery charges:
