SALEM, MA —Two Salem art students will get a college boost in memory of two early members of the Salem Arts Association. The association awarded the 2021 Ellen Hardy Memorial Scholarship to Erin Survilas, who graduated from Essex Tech and will attend the Montserrat College of Art, and the 2021 Paula Beulieu Memorial Arts Scholarship to Carlian Diaz-Guerrero, who graduated from Salem High and who will attend the Maryland Institute College of Art. Samples of each student's work can be found here. Hardy had a profound influence on the Salem art scene through her involvement with the Salem Public Arts Commission, the annual Salem Arts Festival and as a powerful advocate for the Salem Arts Association. Beulieu was a president of the Salem Arts Association who taught art through "Connect With Their Creativity." Any donations made in her honor benefit the Salem Arts Association and Salem High School. Both students earned $1,000 to assist with education expenses as well as complimentary memberships to the Salem Arts Association as student members. A formal ceremony will be held At the Salem Arts galleries on Derby Street on July 19. Did you find this article useful? Invite a friend to subscribe to Patch.
