Press release from the Norwood Historical Society:
2021-06-17
Emily grew up on that farmland, surrounded by cows and cornfields, but was still highly educated. After attending the Norwood public schools Emily went to Radcliffe College, a women's liberal arts college in Cambridge that was considered the female equivalent of the all-male Harvard College. After graduation, she became an instructor at Bridgewater Normal School, (now known as Bridgewater State University), the first school ever erected in America for the preparation of teachers. She resigned in 1901.
