Description
BURLINGTON, MA — The town called a boil water order Thursday evening after E. coli was found in the water supply.
E. coli was found in 3 of 11 water samples taken Wednesday. Residents should either drink bottled water or boil water for at least one minute (and letting it cool) before drinking.
Anything you made with water — such as ice, beverages, formula or uncooked food — on or before Wednesday should be discarded.
The E. Coli bacteria has been detected in the Town of Burlington"s drinking water system. As a result, the MassDEP has issued a boil water order until further notice. Do not drink the Town water without boiling it first. Earlier this week Burlington detailed steps it was taking to address elevated PFAS6 levels in the drinking water, including taking 1 million gallons of water every day from an MWRA source through Lexington.
