WHITE MARSH, MD — A construction worker died on Interstate 95 north in White Marsh Wednesday night, according to police. Antonio Oneil Payton, 33, of Temple Hills, had been trying to set up signs in a work zone on the Express Toll Lanes when he was hit by a tractor-trailer on I-95 north near White Marsh, officials said. Payton was pronounced deceased, according to authorities, who said the tractor-trailer driver remained at the scene. Neither alcohol nor speed appeared to be factors, based on the initial assessment, police said. Payton was wearing reflective clothing, officials reported. The fatal crash remains under investigation by the Maryland State Police Crash Team and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, officials reported Thursday.
