GREENWICH, CT — The Board of Selectmen is looking to engage with the community through several forums, possibly beginning in the fall.
First Selectman Fred Camillo said at last week's Board of Selectmen meeting that he'd like to hold neighborhood forums to discuss residents' issues and concerns in Riverside, Cos Cob, Chickahominy, Pemberwick/Glenville, and Backcountry. There have already been forums for Central Greenwich and Old Greenwich.
The idea would be to hold these forums yearly, giving people the chance to speak up about issues throughout Greenwich as they pop up.
"We would have seven forums we would plan each year. We hope whoever is in our offices in the years to come will continue this," said Camillo, noting that in the fall they could either be held via Zoom or in-person, depending on guidance from Hartford.
"I think going forward, having seven forums each year with various parts of town, it's good to hear [neighborhood] concerns and see what the issues are there. We also want to let them know what we're thinking about and what we're doing," Camillo added.
Last year, a forum was held for Central Greenwich to discuss issues related to outdoor dining and parking concerns on Greenwich Avenue. In April, a similar forum was held in Old Greenwich on outdoor dining, parking and general enhancement of the Old Greenwich business district.
Camillo said he expects to revisit the idea for the forums in September.
