Abiding Savior Lutheran Church Columbia, MD Part-time, 16hrs/week. $18-$20/hr The overall goal of this position is to empower the ministry of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church (ASLC) by providing administrative stability to the church office. A welcoming church office, producing accessible documents, and distributing accurate and timely information are priorities. With the pastor, you will work to make sure 1) Regular members feel comfortable that they have all information they need to fully participate in the life of their congregation 2) visitors are welcomed and receive information at the speed they are comfortable with and 3) community members know what this congregation stands for and is doing. We also want you to be well and happy! Our goal is to provide you with a stable, supportive work environment that leads to your success and flourishing. Major Duties: 1. Bulletin creation 2. Collects, organizes, and distributes announcements 3. Answers email, phone, sorts mail, and office reception with drop-in volunteers, serving as a hub of information, passing messages along to the place they need to go. 4. Serves as admin support for the pastor, and to a lesser extent, council leaders 5. Maintains the website, social media, and other congregational communications. (With content oversight from the pastor.) 6. Tech support for Sunday mornings (StreamYard) 7. Some amount of “managing up,” keeping the pastor organized. 8. Helps maintain parish records, contacts, and office organization Applicants with existing professional working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) are preferred. Our work also makes use of Google Workspace (G-Suite), Wordpress, and StreamYard and while we welcome existing knowledge of any/all of these platforms, no previous experience with them is expected or required; on-site training will be provided. Successful applicants will be detail oriented, excellent in written and oral communication, and comfortable in environments with diversity. Any previous work or experience of non-profit management is a plus. Detailed knowledge of church liturgy and culture is not required, but comfort in a progressive church setting is necessary. You will be supervised by the pastor, but it is the Church Council that has hire/fire power. This is a 16/hr a week position. We understand that you will likely need another job, and we will make every effort to accommodate your schedule at your other job, and other life commitments you have.
