EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — East Providence is currently recruiting firefighters and EMTs to join the city's emergency response team this summer. Hired workers will be given a salary of between $55,477 and $66,276 and expected to perform skilled firefighting work in combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires, provide medical assistance at emergency scenes, and operating and maintaining fire department equipment. The following is a list of applicant requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age by July 30th, 2021.Must be a United States Citizen and furnish a birth certificate or certificate of naturalization.Must possess and furnish a copy of valid driver's license.Must possess a High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).Must successfully complete the Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs Physical Performance Assessment (PPA) (PPA certifications obtained within one year of the application end date will be accepted).Must be able to obtain Rhode Island Emergency Medical Technician Basic Certification while attending the East Providence Fire Academy.The deadline to apply for a firefighter position is Friday, July 30.
