HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — A nearly six month investigation ended Thursday morning when Port Authority Police caught up with a man at John F. Kennedy International Airport who was wanted on sexual assault charges. It's planned that Andres M. Cardenas Ortega, 32, of Middletown will be extradited from New York City to Warren County for four counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, two counts of third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact and one count of third-degree invasion of privacy. Police started looking into the allegations against Ortega in January, when a female victim came forward telling police that while she lived with Ortega in Hackettstown between September 2018 and July 2019, he sexually assaulted her without her knowledge, police said. The victim only became aware of the assaults, she told police, after finding videos; and said she never consented to sexual contact with Ortega or being filmed. When Ortega didn't show to the police department on Wednesday, Sgt. Darren Tynan, a spokesperson for the Hackettstown Police, said Ortega's information was entered into the National Crime Information Center database, with Port Authority Police able to connect with him in the airport very early Thursday morning.
