MANCHESTER, NH — Spirit Airlines, a low-cost airfare carrier, is now expanding service in New Hampshire with new flights to central Florida, starting in October, the company said on Wednesday.
Beginning Oct. 7, nonstop flights will be running daily to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando from the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport. In November, the airline will offer flights four times a week to Fort Myers and three times a week in Tampa.
"We can't wait to welcome guests from around Manchester onboard and show them why Spirit is the best value in the sky," Matt Klein, the executive vice president and chief commercial officer for Spirit Airlines, said. "We looked closely at what New Hampshire travelers want and we saw a great opportunity to give them easy access to some great vacation destinations. We look forward to partnering with the community to kick-off service, strengthening our local ties, and adding more flights in the years to come."
During the past year, the airline has added 11 new cities to its air travel. The company also purchased 16 new fuel-efficient Airbus A320neo planes for its fleet, the company said. The company will also add 21 new planes next year.
Both Gov. Chris Sununu and Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig were at the event, congratulating the airline for coming to the state's largest city and airport. Ted Kitchens, the airport director, was also excited the airline was coming to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.
