LEMONT, IL — Three Lemont High School student-athletes have announced their commitments to compete collegiately beginning in the 2021-22 seasons, according to a release from the school. The student-athletes include cross country/track and field athlete Nick Kania (Carthage College), basketball player Kyle Kostes (Carthage College), and baseball player Evan Ryan (College of DuPage). Lemont High School provided career highlights on the athletes: Nick Kania Earned four varsity letters in track and field for head coach Dennis Kennedy and two varsity letters in cross country for head coach Jon DeGuzmanHelped Lemont to a runner-up finish at the South Suburban Conference-Blue Division MeetWon both the 800 (2:00.84) and 1600 (4:43.94) meter runs at the SSC Blue Meet, and anchored the victorious 4x400 meter relay squadSet a school record in the 800-meter run (1:58.00) at the IHSA SectionalEstablished a personal best in the 1600-meter run (4:37.00)Guided Lemont to an SSC title in cross country as a senior in 2020, pacing the squad with a fourth-place finishWas the runner-up in regional competition, helping Lemont to a first-place finish, and also placed 19th to pace the squad in sectional competitionPosted a 3-mile personal best of 16:04 in a dual meet as a seniorHigh Honor Roll studentWill compete for head coach Josh Henry at Carthage College, an NCAA Division III institution that is located in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and is a member of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin.
