Stolen Motorcycle, 'No Trespassing' Sign Leads To Arrest: ICSO

IREDELL COUNTY, NC — A bad parking decision and a police dog with a keen sense of smell led to the arrest of and a list of felony charges for a Taylorsville man in western Iredell County Wednesday. According to the Iredell County Sheriff's office, the chain of events leading to the arrest began when a deputy noticed a motorcycle parked on the side of the road near a "no trespassing" sign while patrolling near Lookout Dam Road and Island Ford Road. The license plate did not match the motorcycle, which according to the vehicle identification number, had been reported stolen in Caldwell County, ICSO said. The deputy spotted a man in the area who initially claimed the motorcycle, but then fled into the woods. "A search of the area was conducted, locating a driver's license which matched the description of the suspect who had fled, along with a small amount of methamphetamine," ICSO said in a statement. The suspect was identified as Emmitt Steven Loges of Taylorsville, who was wanted on multiple outstanding felony warrants in Iredell and Alexander counties. ICSO deployed a canine team to track Loges, who was tracked for more than a mile and a half before he was apprehended in a wheat field, ICSO said. Loges, 33, was charged with felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle; felony possession of methamphetamine; felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia; and misdemeanor resist, obstruct, or delay of a public officer. He was also charged with misdemeanor second degree trespass, ICSO said. Following his arrest, Loges was also served with his outstanding warrants that included five counts of felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle; five counts of felony larceny; two counts of attempted felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle; felony larceny of a motor vehicle; and felony larceny, ICSO said.
