The 5th Street Public Market, Eugene’s premier shopping destination, is looking for a new team member to fill the role of General Construction Laborer. This is a Full-Time position, with an anticipated schedule of Monday-Friday. Schedule flexibility is required. Wage will be depending on experience, between $16-$18 per hour. The 5th Street Public Market is an EOE and drug-free workplace. The hired candidate must pass drug screen and have a valid driver’s license with driving record to meet insurance standards. Job Description: The General Construction Laborer will work on construction and remodel projects for the 5th Street Public Market and associated Obie properties as assigned by the Construction Manager and Operations Manager. This is a position that requires a close attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and the ability to oversee other contracted services as assigned. Generally, work includes painting, framing, sheetrock, electrical, plumbing, and welding. Key Responsibilities: · Effectively execute Capital Expenditure, Tenant Improvement, and other Construction projects as assigned by Management. · Assist the Construction Manager and Operations Manager with effectively finding and hiring external sub-contractors when needed. · Facilitate and over-see sub-contractors as they work on the 5th Street Public Market and associated Obie properties. · Ensure projects are done with a high-level attention to detail. Must be able to work both on a team and independently. · Communicate and coordinate the scheduling of Capital Expenditure and Tenant Improvement Projects with the Construction Manager and Operations Manager. Schedule with the intention of having the least amount of interruption and disturbance to current tenants and customers. · Effectively build and maintain relationships with all external contacts, including (but not limited to) vendors, suppliers, contracted services, local authorities, local code officials · Understand and follow Obie Companies policies for bidding, identify qualified bidders, manage all construction activity to meet plans and specifications. Complete on schedule and on budget. · Other duties as assigned Qualifications: · Construction Background · Experience in various Maintenance Trades and Skillsets, including but not limited to: Painting, Framing, Sheetrock, Electrical, Plumbing, Welding, etc. · Professional, flexible and a demonstrated leader · Energetic and passionate about the position · Good analytical skills · Ability to communicate, both written and verbally, and experience in supervision and training of all operations teams and contracted services · Working knowledge of computer software programs Required Education: · High school or equivalent · 3+ years in Construction or similar industry Obie Companies is a committed to creative a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
