Hello Long Islanders. It has been a crazy year or so for everyone including all of us here at Reigning Dragons. Due to Covid we were so inundated with rescue that we could not even post our usual adds. It has been a very sad and trying time for so many, we spent much of our time just trying to place reptiles from owner to new owner with no pit stop at our facility. As we always say, even if we can not take in an animal we will always do our best to help place an animal in need. If you are having a hard time placing your pet please contact us and we may be able to help. Letting your exotic pet go in the wild is NOT the answer. By trade I am a veterinary technician and licensed wildlife rehabilitator. I have been doing exotic/wildlife animal rescue for over 25 years. In these hard economic times many people can no longer keep their pets and some people just let them go and this is very wrong. The exotic animal industry is taking a lot of flack because of people that just release their pets and this is causing other people to create bills and laws that will ban the sale, trade and ownership of any exotic animal right down to tropical fish. This is a very bad thing! So if you or someone you know needs to place a reptile or other exotic please don't hesitate to contact me and I will do whatever I can to help. Also, if anyone out there is willing to foster exotics (NON-NATIVE) please send me an e-mail along with your credentials and capabilities and I will put you on our foster parent list pending final approval. ***Note: we are now taking in aquatic turtles when able to place. Our aquatic turtle rescues are only place in ponds that are protected from predators and escaping. Attention: due to networking we are now able to assist with orphaned raccoons and fox as well.
