Camp Mike-Mike is the first annual youth grief camp held by Redesigning Minds, a community based non-profit organization.
Our primary goal is to provide a safe, fun, and loving atmosphere, where they can learn to understand their grief and develop healthy coping mechanisms. Camp Mike-Mike will take place July 26th-July 30th at the Redesigning Minds facility, located at 2735 Greenmount Avenue. We will serve 30 campers ranging from ages 7-16 from 9am- 3pm. Campers will participate in specialized therapeutic activities and receive compassionate care from our staff. Each staff member has a background in youth development, has been trained in providing trauma informed care, and has personally dealt with grief. Each day guest speakers will come talk and uplift our campers. Our speakers include the University of Maryland Violence Prevention Program, local entertainers, and mental health professionals. Chef Savory will be providing our campers with lunch each day as well as conducting cooking activities. At Camp Mike-Mike we hope to normalize the conversations about grief and how it affects children differently and provide healthy strategies for healing.
