Grammy-nominated Mary Gauthier's music reflects how she and countless others, including wounded veterans, have been saved by a song.
All the songs on Mary Gauthier's 10th album, "Rifles and Rosary Beads," were co-written with wounded veterans. The album was nominated for a Grammy and won Best Album of the Year at the International Folk Music Awards. Her first nine albums were deeply personal, reflecting her abandonment at birth, being a lesbian in the deep South, recovery from alcohol addiction. Her latest project is a memoir, "Saved by a Song: The Art and Healing Power of Songwriting," available July 6th.
