PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Hundreds of residents, elected officials, and community leaders flocked to downtown Port Washington on Saturday for the area's inaugural Pride Walk.
Sponsored by the nonprofit "Be The Rainbow," Pride Walk celebrated the LGBTQIA+ community and their fight for equality. It kicked off at Bay Walk Park at 1 p.m. and ended at Sunset Park with a concert by the all-female rock band Antigone Rising.
Public officials who participated in Saturday's event include Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D-Glen Cove), New York Assemblywoman Gina Sillitti (D-Port Washington), and New York Sen. Anna Kaplan (D-Great Neck).
