Press release from the City of West Palm Beach: 06/15/2021 2:44 PM The Action Summit which was held virtually on June 12, 2021 WEST PALM BEACH, FLA (June 15, 2021) – On Saturday, June 12, 2021, more than 200 residents, business owners, and other stakeholders participated in the Mayor's Task Force on Racial and Ethnic Equality's Action Summit. The event was an opportunity for attendees to provide input on racial and ethnic inequality in West Palm Beach through polls, surveys and meaningful discussions. Building a diverse team of police officers, Creating opportunities for the community to participate in a police review or advisory board, and Assessing racial equity training and tools for increased cultural sensitivity of police officers. Improving access to and education about healthcare services and wellbeing resources, Addressing unequal distribution of information, and Building trust between marginalized communities and health institutions. Expanding options for decent and affordable housing for both homebuyers and renters, and Mitigating financial barriers and increasing programs and funding for prospective homebuyers. Improving relationships between small business and banking and finance institutions, Reducing existing barriers that impede business owners within marginalized communities, and Supporting residents' economic advancement by addressing gaps in opportunities to access capital and build wealth. Improving offerings of career development, workforce training, and educational opportunities for youth and adults, and Elevating the quality of resources for under-resourced schools by attracting and retaining qualified teachers and improving school support.
