NEW YORK CITY — A Rikers Island inmate got a brief taste of freedom after he impersonated another detainee set to be released, according to a report. Josiah Prysock is back behind bars following an escape Monday, the New York Daily News first reported. Prysock, who recently pleaded guilty to assault and robbery charges, took another inmate's identification number and fooled several jail staffers on his way out the gate, the Daily News reported. The escape ended Tuesday when Prysock turned himself into authorities. The incident is one of several recent accidental releases from the city's notorious jail. Jail staff in March mistakenly released a murder suspect named Christopher Buggs from Rikers, prompting a month-long manhunt. Read the full New York Daily News report here.
