Description
SILVER SPRING, MD — A two-way bike lane is planned for the west side of Fenton Street, along with one travel lane in each direction on for vehicles, a northbound left turning lane at intersections and parking and loading zones on the east side of the street. The Montgomery County Department of Transportation is seeking public input for that plan, which is titled Alternative E. A virtual meeting is scheduled for June 22 at 6:30 p.m. where MDCOT will give updates on the project and ask for community feedback. Residents can register for the meeting in advance on MCDOT's website. REMINDER: This Tuesday (6/22) at 6:30p, we're holding a virtual community meeting to get your feedback about the design of the Fenton Street Cycletrack in downtown Silver Spring. Registration is *required*. The design process for the Fenton Street Cycletrack could take two years, beginning spring of this year, according to MCDOT's website. It said it's looking at advance portions of the design so there can be improvements made sooner. The Fenton Cycletrack is part of the Fenton Village Bicycle & Pedestrian Projects, which include three projects in the Fenton Village and downtown Silver Spring areas. The other projects are the Fenton Street / MD 410 Intersection Redesign — which aims to make the intersection safer for cyclists and pedestrians — and Grove Street Neighborhood Greenway Pilot, which will set up a temporary green space.
