Annual Joseph M. Liedel Memorial Golf Outing and 9/11 Tribute Captain Joseph M. Liedel: On July 31, 2020, Capt. Joseph M. Liedel (age 48) suffered a brain bleed while responding to an emergency call. Joe was taken to the hospital and provided with the best care available. He was comforted by his brothers and family over the coming weeks, however, Joe's injuries were too great and he passed away from complications on Sunday, August 23, 2020. At a young age, Joe joined the Monroe Township Fire Department and followed in his father's footsteps by proudly joining the ranks as a firefighter. Over the course of his 28 year career, Joe served as a Lieutenant and later became Captain in 2019. Joe enjoyed helping others and was well-respected among his fellow colleagues. He assisted on thousands of incidents, among them, traveling to New York City with his Monroe Township brothers to lend a helping hand at Ground Zero following the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Joe is, and always will be, greatly missed by his family, friends and brothers. The Monroe Township Fire Department, along with the help of his family, would like to honor him with an Annual Memorial Golf Outing and 9/11 Tribute to commemorate his life of selflessness and kindness. Liedel Fund through the Monroe Township Firefighters Association to benefit Monroe County firefighters and/or their families with school, medical or additional expenses.
