JESSUP, MD — A project to construct Ridgelys Run Road at 8490 Washington Boulevard (US 1) in Jessup has been slated to begin June 28. As an existing dead-end road, the road will be extended and expanded to become Ridgelys Run Road. As a 2,000-linear-foot access roadway, the new road will lead to a future 2.5-million-gallon elevated water storage tank and a future high school. The project also will include a 10-foot shared-use path, stormwater management system, associated utilities and intersection improvements at US 1 and Ridgelys Run Road. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late May 2022. "School construction has been a priority of my administration since day one, with county investment increasing by 25 percent to advance critical projects like high school #13 to provide additional capacity for our student population," Howard County Executive Calvin Ball said. "The construction of Ridgelys Run Road will provide safe access to high school #13 and is a critical part of the infrastructure needed to accommodate our students." Signs and flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic as needed during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., as temporary lane closures on southbound Washington Boulevard are expected.
