FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Several teenaged boys from Fredericksburg were charged in connection with the burglary of James Monroe High School on Saturday, June 5, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department. The four boys face several charges, including grand larceny and the felony destruction of property. The boys were students at the school, according to a report published by the police department. They have not been named since they are all under the age of 18. Police claimed that the boys forced their way into the high school through a window. Once inside, authorities believe that the accused committed acts of vandalism, "causing thousands of dollars in damage," they said in a news release. The boys are accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of electronics during the burglary. The original police report noted that the suspects stole food items, as well. Their case will be heard in Fredericksburg's Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. The school, located at 2300 Washington Avenue in the City of Fredericksburg, opened its current building in 2006. James Monroe High School is the only high school in the City of Fredericksburg's public school system.
