I am an open-minded, experienced musician (banjo, vocals, drums, trumpet) looking for an opportunity to play banjo with a group. I play acoustic and electric banjo and have my own wireless and wired equipment to use with your PA. I play banjo in a band currently with buddies and have capacity to add more musical experiences to my life.
I play rock and blues, covers and originals (i.e. typical changes and all variations of I-IV-V, I-vi-IV-V-I, ii-V-I, etc.) with voicings up and down the entire neck in all inversions. Unless I am playing something very fast and technical, I do not use fingerpicks which gives me a much more human and expressive sound than typical. I am not a Bluegrass player, but I respect Bluegrass.
My main instrument prior to banjo is/was drums and I have rock-solid rhythm that transferred to my banjo playing as a result. I still consider myself part of the rhythm section as a banjo player. I can sing lead vocals or backup (while playing the ax, of course) :). I bring no paper or electronic prompts but a set list onto the bandstand.
If you are interested in making music with a musician who is hard working, motivated, musically skilled and experienced, one who learns quickly and will learn your book and play/sing everything from memory with heart while bringing in my own tunes and influences, please call or text and we can see if we are a good fit and get started.
Thanks,
Scott
