NAACPGR is hosting an exclusive Pre-Screening of "Summer of Soul", Questlove's directorial debut about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival! The Greater Grand Rapids NAACP is inviting you to come out and be apart of of a FREE exclusive pre screening of the new film titled "Summer of Soul". Ahmir “Questlove Thompson of the legendary band "The Roots" in his directorial debut put together a historical masterpiece of part music film and part historical record. The film was created around the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival (the same summer of woodstock), an epic event that celebrated Black history, culture and fashion. Including never-before-seen concert performances by Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, B.B. King and more, the film uses the festival’s musical performances to tell the story of the cultural and sociopolitical upheaval happening at that time. Bring your family out for a night of FREE food and fellowship as we celebrate the history of black culture !
