Description
Purpose
The purpose of the class is to give students a head start on learning the most difficult subjects in the biology curriculum to provide a strong conceptual foundation that will facilitate success in the school year. A second, but as important, purpose is to make biology interesting and instill a sense of wonderin students.
Audience
The class is for high school students enrolled in a biology course in the 2021/2022 school year. It will be particularly helpful to students who will be taking Advanced Placement Biology.

The central role of proteins in living systems: protein structure and functionDNA as a blueprint for building proteins: structure, transcription, and translationThe central role of reproduction in biology: mitosis and meiosisEnergetics in living things: photosynthesis and metabolism
The class will utilize state-of–the-art computer simulations and videos.

Full course Session I: July 5-23; Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9:00-10:30 a.m. (13.5 hours)
Full course Session II: July 30-August 16; Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9:00-10:30 a.m., and Saturday, August 14, 9:00-10:30 a.m. (13.5 hours)
