ORLAND PARK, IL — Teachers have the ability to leave an impression on a student that may last a lifetime. On Monday, Orland School District 135 recognized over 30 staff members district-wide who have done just that. The Board of Education for D135 regularly hands out the ABCDE recognition to its teachers who receive nominations. This honor comes through the employee recognition program created on behalf of the Orland School District's Board of Education, by representatives of each of the district's employee groups. The recognition stands for Above and Beyond the Call of Duty Every day, and according to the district, the goal of the program is to give the community the opportunity to recognize district staff members. As the 2020-21 school year closes, 34 staff members were submitted by students, parents and other staff for the recognition during the meeting. Honorees receive a copy of the entry from the community member, and then receive a "token of appreciation" from the school board.
