Little Italy Days Returning To Bloomfield This Summer

PITTSBURGH, PA — After a 2020 absence due to the coronavirus outbreak,the region's largest heritage festival will return this summer to Liberty Avenue in Bloomfield. Little Italy Days, which typically attracts tens of thousands of people to the primarily Italian neighborhood, will occur Aug. 19-22. Musical performer at the four-day event will include legendary Pittsburgh rockers The Granati Brothers; Mia Zanotti, former contestant on NBC's "The Voice"; Earth, Wind and Fire tribute band Let's Groove Tonight; Rolling Stones tribute band Jumpin' Jack Flash; pop rock band Boneshakers; Italian accordionist Mirella The Musician; Italian Opera Vocalist John Lupone; youth rock band Wacky Shack; rhythm and blues performer Billy the Kid; rockers Elias Khouri and the EK Band; and Jeff Jimerson, National Anthem Singer for the Pittsburgh Penguins. There also will be the traditional bocce tournaments and the Miss Little Italy Pageant, as well as numerous food booths stretching along Liberty Avenue. Sal Richetti, who has produced the event since 2012, said in a release that he continues to be excited and honored to organize the community oriented event in the neighborhood in which he was born and raised. "I want to be able to produce Little Italy Days so the businesses can benefit from the large crowds and everyone else including residents, organizations, schools and churches, can become involved," he said.
