PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia man is behind bars after another man was found shot dead inside a King of Prussia hotel room Monday, authorities announced Wednesday. Jonathan Tunnell, 40, of Philadelphia, faces murder charges in the death of Henry Palmen. The incident was allegedly sparked by a "drug deal gone bad," Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said. The shooting occurred on June 14 at around 3:30 p.m. at the Fairfield Inn on Mall Boulevard. A criminal complaint shows that Tunnell and Palmen had exchanged a series of texts in the days and hours leading up to the killing. It's not yet clear what happened next, but the affidavit indicates that Tunnell thought Palmen was standing him up after being out of communication for a period of time. U.S. Marshals worked with Upper Merion Police and Montgomery County Detectives to track Tunnell, following him via security footage down Mall Boulevard and past area hotels. He was ultimately arrested near the Philadelphia Airport. Tunnel had just been released on parole in Aug. 2020, and was already wanted for parole and probation violations, the DA said. No bail is available for first degree murder, and Tunnell was booked at Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is set for June 28. Story by Justin Heinze
