Description

Press release from the Clackamas County Government: 6/15/2021 The Clackamas County Board of Commissioners issued the following statement at their Business Meeting Thursday, June 10 relating to supportive housing in the county: Clackamas County has a great need for housing and services. For far too long, the need outweighed our investments. If we continue to invest in housing at current levels with local, state and federal funds, it will take 22 years to move all of our residents off the waitlist and into supportive housing.  We can no longer wait. Our community is resourceful and we will find a way to serve our most vulnerable residents. Although, we cannot access regional funds immediately to address the housing crisis, through county resources we will take care of our people. We are committed to not displacing residents, and have directed county staff to explore providing gap funding from county funds to maintain current housing services and ramp up services as outlined in our community led Clackamas County's Supportive Housing Services Local Implementation Plan.  To continue our momentum, we have a procurement process underway to fund organizations with expertise in supportive housing, wrap-around supports, housing navigation and more.  We intend to prioritize this important work and provide the services laid out in our Local Implementation Plan and will continue to move forward as the community recommends.
