EAGAN, MN — Destination All-Play opened at Woodhaven Park Tuesday, the city of Eagan said.
Eagan Mayor Mike Maguire, along with City Council members, city officials and Parks and Recreation staff, hosted the grand re-opening, complete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the city said.
"We are continually working to make Eagan a great place to live, work, and play," Maguire said during the event. "Well, today is about play!"
The new park includes something for all accessibility levels, the city said. It includes a sensory-rich, accessible, all-inclusive, playground and a Bankshot basketball court, the city said.
The need for an all-inclusive and accessible playground was identified by the Parks and Recreation team in 2016, the city said.
"Accessible play spaces allow everyone, young and old, and all abilities, to play on a variety of play equipment, and invites everyone - friends, parents, and caregivers to join the fun," Eagan's Parks and Recreation Director Andrew Pimental said.
"We have a culture of inclusion and accessibility. It starts from the City Council, continues with our Parks Commission, and I'm proud of how our staff team can take that vision, enhance it and execute to create the world-class park system, and play spaces that you see today. So thank, you Mr. Mayor and Council and Parks Commission for your vision and allowing us to make this amazing play space a reality."
97 percent of Eagan residents said they visited Eagan's parks in 2020, the city said.
