The Lab for Family Wellbeing and Justice is partnering with JustDane (previously known as Madison-Area Urban Ministry), United Way of Dane County, and Anesis Therapy Center to offer an 8-week program to families impacted by incarceration. If eligible for participation there is compensation for participating in program classes/activities.

What: Pathways for Parents after Incarceration: a study with formerly incarcerated fathers, caregivers, and children
Why: To help fathers and families learn effective parenting and communication skills, and get social support from other families who share similar experiences. The goal is to help families improve parent-child connections, increase parent and child well-being, and reduce recidivism.
How: Participate in an all virtual program for 8 weeks (plus graduation) and complete surveys and interviews.
When: Starting July
Where: Participate via Zoom from home or other location - laptops/wifi can be provided.
Who: Formerly incarcerated fathers (released within the last 5 years), caregivers of their children, and one child between the ages of 3-17
Details: Program includes: a) 2-hr parenting class, b) 1-hr peer support group, and c) family activities. A meal (or $10 per session for people living outside of Madison area) delivered to person’s home, all materials, children’s books and supplies, and compensation up to $165/participating adult will be provided.
