Chemtron is currently searching for a full time Sodium Cutting Technician. Starting pay is competitive in the industry but based off of experience. We offer health benefits, vacation time, and more after the probationary period. Job Summary: This position is critical to the effective and successful operation of the NRS group. This individual will be responsible for confined space entry to remove water-reactive sodium metal from railroad cars, tankers, and iso-containers Sodium cutting technician requirements: • High school Diploma or GED • Maintains a valid Driver’s license. • Experience working in the waste industry preferred • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures • Obtain and keeps current all required certifications including but not limited to 40-hour HAZWOPER, confined space entry, and more • Willingness to work outdoors and in a plant environment with exposure to all weather conditions, chemicals, noise and dust. Sodium cutting technician’s main responsibilities: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions • Enters confined spaces as required and in accordance with safety policies and procedures • Climbs either ladders or stairs to work at heights exceeding 4-ft up to 25-ft • The ability to learn and use routine equipment such as tow motors, jack hammers, etc. safely and according to procedure • Safely and efficiently operate pneumatic tools • Operates pumps that transfers mildly caustic solutions • Housekeeping: Maintain a neat and clean working environment including laundering reusable protective garments • Performs other job-related duties assigned Working Conditions and Physical Demands: • Wear company issued personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed and in accordance with safety policies and procedures • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk, see or hear • The position involves sitting, walking, driving and lifting less than 10 pounds for long periods of time throughout the day or lift-up to 90 pounds. • Climb stairs and scaffolding and works at heights or in tight spaces • May be subject to heat and cold stress environments, chemical and dust working both inside and outside the facility • At times may be exposed to noise levels requiring hearing protection • The worker may be exposed to hazards such as moving vehicles, moving mechanical parts • Compliance and adherence to all company policies specifically facial hair policy Interested and qualified candidates for the Sodium Cutting Technician opening should submit their resume for immediate consideration.
