PRIMARY PURPOSE: Maintenance and repair of the golf course irrigation and drainage systems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS: - Assists in the maintenance, servicing and trouble shooting of the entire irrigation system on golf courses and landscape adjacent to the course. - Responsible for monitoring pump stations, weather stations, injection wells and other supplemental water related to the irrigation system. - Responsible for programming an efficient water schedule for the entire golf course complex and related projects in the absence of the Superintendent. - Responsible for monitoring and servicing twice monthly the Filtromat system on the pump stations. Must also know how to re-charge the pump station in case of power failure. - Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean work area. - Coordinates with the Superintendent on daily irrigation watering schedules and possible irrigation problems that may arise. - Responsible for overseeing the irrigation section in the absence of the Superintendent. - Responsible for watering isolated areas as needed. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: - Skills/Knowledge: Knowledge of irrigation systems, particularly the Rain Bird irrigation system; ability to repair pipes, sprinklers, valves, pumps, filters, etc.; ability to work in a team; driver's license required. - Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent required. - Experience: Two years experience in operation and repair of irrigation systems. WORKING CONDITIONS & DEMANDS: - Equipment Use: Most equipment and tools used on a golf course, including but not limited to, pick, shovel, pipe repair tools, hand tools, backhoe, trencher, utility vehicle. - Work Hours: 40 hour work week, daylight hours, seven days a week, some overtime required. - Physical Demands: Frequent standing, digging, bending, walking, standing; occasional lifting and carrying up to 80 pounds; occasional reaching, crouching, pushing, pulling, riding, driving. - Communication Demands: Ability to read and write; must be able to understand and give verbal and written instructions; must be able to communicate with coworkers.
