CHURCH SEXTON Lynnhaven United Methodist Church is now seeking candidates for hire for the position of Sexton. Our Sexton is responsible for general repairs, preventative maintenance, and routine cleaning of the church facility and grounds. The sexton is also responsible for general repairs at the parsonage if they are within the range of the person's ability. For repairs or preventative maintenance that fall outside of the sexton's personal skill set, he or she will help arrange for and oversee the contracted work necessary at the church and parsonage. An ideal candidate for LUMC Sexton shall: 1) Lead a life consistent with Biblical principles and demonstrate Christian caring and concern for others; 2) Hold at least a High School diploma or GED and preferably, have 1-3 years related experience or training in general repairs, preventative maintenance, and routine cleaning of a facility and its grounds; 3) Possess physical and sensory abilities necessary to safely and successfully perform all essential job functions and responsibilities, included but not limited to working with power tools (e.g. saws and drills, landscaping equipment, etc.), climbing ladders, and lifting at least 50 pounds. This is a part-time position that averages 30 hours/week at a starting rate of $17/hour.
