Join SPROUT and LSU Ag for our summer farm tour series! The Cheniers have owned and operated their 40 acre family farm for nearly 30 years. “We began growing food as a young married couple in order to take ownership of our health and make ends meet. Farming is in our blood, having been raised in South Louisiana families that depended on raising their own food using local wisdom and resources. When we started to see the need in our community for locally grown, healthy produce, our passion for farming quickly transformed into a business as we and our three sons began selling produce at nearby markets in the 90's. After all these years, we still work the land ourselves, relying on natural and sustainable methods to raise a wide variety of vegetables, fruits and animal products. We are excited to share our passion for good food with you!” Light lunch will be provided by the Cheniers (sorry, no vegetarian options! pack a sandwich). Bring a water and wear closed toed shoes. Participants must register through eventbrite. Space is limited and travel is required. SPROUT cannot provide travel assistance.
