I Will Record Your Band Free

Description

Hey everyone, Since Covid hit, I've had nothing better to do than sit around and learn recording techniques in my DIY basement home studio. Now that things are (seemingly) blowing over, I'm looking for (vaccinated) musicians of any genre to help make a demo, album, EP, single, whatever. Right now I'm offering this pro bono because I need new opportunities to record and mix (and maybe even master) different musicians to expand my horizons, and I'd like to support local musicians while doing so. And frankly, I still have a lot to learn. The only thing I ask in return is the opportunity to record and mix your music and add it to my repertoire to expand my experience and portfolio. All due credit would be given, and I would not sell anything for profit, just provide an idea to future collaborators of what I've done and can do. And if you don't like the mixes I come up with or would prefer someone else do it, I can give you the stems with which you can do whatever you please. As far as instruments go, I can provide drums, guitars and basses (even a low-rent lap steel), amps, and some synthesizers, or you can bring your own stuff (although I can't store it, so you'd have to load in and out each session). Also, I have a variety of mics and plenty of preamps, and I can passably play plenty of instruments if you'd need the accompaniment (or learn them to a certain extent to help out with flourishes here and there). If you are interested, shoot me an email and we can discuss details regarding the space, my equipment, and my proposed approach. My roots are mainly in punk/alternative/noise, but I've worked with musicians who use nothing more than an acoustic guitar and their voice to play old traditionals and classic country, so I am completely open to any genre of music. I invite the challenge of a new style, so don't hesitate to reach out. That said, it is a DIY basement space, so there are limitations and parameters within which we will have to work (i.e., don't expect Abbey Road). I can't hold a 15-piece go-go band or something like that all at once, but I could record instruments individually and add them all together in the mix. So reach out if you'd like more info. I would prefer to discuss things over a beer/coffee/water bottles filled from the Anacostia before I have anyone over, primarily to make sure expectations are set and we can get a feel of working together and if that would be a good fit. I can also provide examples of recordings I've done entirely myself or had a hand in with other bands (all of which are DIY, not pro studio settings). Thanks for reading, and stay healthy out there.
