NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New Rochelle Police Department and the New Rochelle Police Foundation have announced dates for the beloved summer tradition. The fishing cruises led by members of the Police and Community Together (PACT) unit will take place on four Wednesday afternoons this summer. The excursions are open to New Rochelle residents between 10 and 15 years old. The Long Island Sound fishing trips on board the Shamrock charter boat are planned for July 7, 21, 28, as well as August 4. The charter trips will depart from the Fort Slocum Road Dock at Neptune Park. Participants must be ready for departure by 9 AM. The boat will return at approximately 2 p.m. each day. Lunch, beverages and fishing gear will be provided. All participants must have signed permission from a parent or guardian to participate in the boat trips. Completed permission forms can be returned to the P.A.C.T. office or front desk at police headquarters at 475 North Ave. A signed permission slip must be received by the officer leading the trip before a child will be allowed to board the boat. Pre-registration is required. The trips fill up quickly. Families are asked to turn in signed permission forms no later than a week before their preferred cruise date.
