WILMINGTON, MA — Jomarie O'Mahoney resigned from the Wilmington Board of Selectmen Monday night at the end of the board's meeting. O'Mahoney said she is moving to another town and resigned effective that evening, as first reported by the Lowell Sun. "It is with a bittersweet heart that I am announcing, effective at midnight tonight, my resignation from the Wilmington Board of Selectmen," O'Mahoney said. "It's been one of the great honors of both my personal and political life to serve on this board over the past two years." The rest of the board praised O'Mahoney and wished her well. "As I move on in my personal life to a new town, new challenges, and new opportunities to serve my new home, I will always remember Wilmington as the place that taught me the true meaning of community," O'Mahoney said. "I'm so thankful for everything." The board did not discuss plans for filling O'Mahoney's seat Monday. The full meeting is available here from WCTV.
