Description

GLEN COVE, NY — Bill Friedlieb, of Glen Cove, will be honored by Congregation Tifereth Israel in a virtual tribute on Sunday, June 27 at 5 p.m. Tifereth Israel says the tribute will include a video highlighting the honoree's life and contributions to the congregation — and will raise funds to support the synagogue's educational programs. Friedlieb has held multiple leadership positions during his 33 years of membership, including serving as the congregation's president and treasurer. According to Tifereth Israel, he has also chaired the ritual and cemetery committees and, for many years, has hosted "Torah Talk with Bill" — a weekly class devoted to discussions about Jewish thought, values, and history. Of the roles Friedlieb has filled at Tifereth Israel, he says "Torah Talks with Bill" was the most rewarding. "I enjoy teaching because it took me a long time to learn, studying with several rabbis of differing denominations," he said. "[I]t is my pleasure to be able to pass on Jewish learning to others and discuss it with them." When he wasn't spending time at the synagogue, Friedlieb was working as a deputy inspector for the New York City Police Department. He then retired from his post and became the chief investigator for the New York State Commission of Investigation. He and his wife, Susan, share a blended family of five children. How To Participate in the Virtual Tribute A number of goods, services, and vacation experiences will be auctioned at the tribute. Among them are: A sunset cruise on a private yachtA wine tasting conducted by a professional sommelierMeals with prominent local officialsHome décor and artworksNutrition and financial planning counseling sessionsPersonal items, such as jewelry and watchesA guided kayak tour through Hempstead HarborGolf getaways and travel adventures Visit https://cti.afrogs.org/#/index or call Tifereth Israel's office at 516-676-5080 to get tickets for the tribute, bid on items on auction, or sponsor a journal ad.
