The Town of Sharon seeks qualified applicants for the part-time (25-30 hours/week, depending on candidate; schedule to be negotiated) Animal Control Officer position. Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following: Enforcing Town bylaws and any other applicable laws or regulation relating to the control, impoundment and disposition of animals. This includes responding to and investigating calls and complaints from residents relating to animal issues such as unleashed dogs, stray animals, animal cruelty and working with animal owners to ensure they comply with all animal ordinances and policies. Prepares comprehensive complaint reports and maintains database cataloging unlicensed or stray dogs and provides care of domestic animals and provides adoptions at shelter. Qualifications and experience: Associate’s degree preferred; completion of the Animal Control Officers Association of Mass. Academy required within two years of hire and completion of the Mass. Animal Fund ACO Core Competency Training required within one year. Knowledge of applicable M.G.L. and town bylaws governing control and regulation of animals; basic knowledge of animal husbandry and animal first aid; knowledge of emergency care for animals. Valid driver’s license required.
