WALLINGFORD, CT — Longtime Wallingford Mayor William W. Dickinson Jr. recently announced he is running for re-election and seeking a 20th consecutive term in office, according to the Record-Journal. The Record-Journal reports Dickinson, a 38-year incumbent, continued his tradition of dressing in costume when he announced his intentions at last week's Republican Town Committee meeting. Dickinson dressed in a work apron and work belt with a hammer, pliers and other tools to represent the "work that has to be done," according to the Record-Journal. Both the Republican and Democratic town committees will hold their nominating conventions in July. Riley O'Connell and Jackie McFarlane are seeking the Democratic nomination for mayor. Dickinson defeated Democrat Jared Liu in the 2017 and 2019 municipal elections. Read more at the Record-Journal here.
