STAMFORD, CT — Pizza lovers rejoice. Sally's Apizza of New Haven fame is coming to Stamford this summer. Known for its authentic, New Haven coal-fired, brick oven pizza since 1938, the business announced in a news release on Tuesday that they are opening the first of its new locations at 66 Summer St. in Stamford in the coming months. "We've seen people from other states and even other countries make the journey to New Haven for our craveable tomato sauce and addictive charred pies," said Rob Nelson, Sally's Director of Hospitality, in a news release. "Our fans have been hoping for years that we would open up additional locations and we are thrilled to announce to the world that this dream is now a reality." According to the news release, the Stamford location measures 4,000 square feet, and will offer increased seating options for customers with a mezzanine and an outdoor patio. The signature honey oak paneled interior will pay homage to Salvatore "Sally" Consiglio, along with art and memorabilia celebrating Sally's storied history as a favorite spot for legends like Frank Sinatra and The Rolling Stones. There will be an area dedicated to seamless pickup, take-out and delivery. Additionally, customers will get to enjoy a full bar with craft beer, cocktails, and of course, authentic coal-fired New Haven pizza. Sally's is assuring long-time fans and newcomers that the pizza at the Stamford location will hold true to its roots. The same recipes, ingredients and techniques that made Sally's a household name in New Haven will be used. Sally's noted that a dedicated team "has spent years ensuring the ability to produce the authentic Sally's product in new locations." To that end, custom pizza ovens have been engineered and built brick-for-brick to match the ovens at the original Wooster Street location in New Haven. "I am happy to see my father's legacy carrying on and being made available to more people. I plan on making the rounds at the new locations, with an eye toward seeing the same quality product coming out of these incredible ovens," said Rick Consiglio, Sally's son.
