having a sensory need that can limit them from participating in the community, this mobile unit would help foster greater participation. Individuals with these challenges such as sensory
disorders, Dementia, and Autism are among the people that would benefit from this unit.
"We are proud of all the work the Committee has done, especially around this important initiative. Adding a mobile unit with a sensory room to our community events will allow Toms
River to become an even more inclusive Township," commented Mayor Maurice "Mo" Hill.
The sensory unit is a dedicated space that gives access to tools and equipment that can be used at our community wide events. The mobile unit would be used at fairs, festivals and
community events and would be a sensory room to help those with disabilities and their families participate more comfortably.
"I'm excited to announce the launch of a fundraising effort to purchase a mobile sensory room for community-wide events. I'm grateful to Mayor Hill and the town Council for their support of
this project and the members of the Toms River Mayor's Advisory Committee on Developmental Disabilities for their help in promoting it," said Committee Member Tracey Fournier.
The TRMACDD is currently running a campaign for donations. More information about the program and how you can make a contribution can be found at Toms River Township - KultureCity.
