WAUKESHA, WI—The Waukesha School Board Policy Committee will discuss COVID-19 vaccination policies at 6p.m. Tuesday. There is no action on the agenda item. The policy was being brought forward to discuss per the request of a board member. There is currently no COVID-19 vaccination policy. According to online documents, the district has immunization policies from 2017 for other vaccines. The Board of Education requires that all students be properly immunized pursuant to the Wisconsin Statutes and regulations of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. All students are required to provide written evidence establishing that they have completed the first and second immunization for each vaccine required for the student's grade and are on schedule for the remainder of the basic and recall (booster) immunizations. Waivers of the immunization requirements shall be granted only for medical, religious, or personal convictions. According to the Wisconsin DHS, 54.1% (218,612) of Waukesha County residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine. 48.4% (195,586) of residents have completed the vaccine series.
