Mayor, Police Chief, 'Partners' Provide Shooting Taskforce Update

NEW HAVEN, CT — Tuesday New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker and Police Chief Renee Dominguez are slated to hold a media briefing to provide an update on the efforts of the newly re-formed shooting taskforce. Also expected to attend are Hamden Mayor Curt Leng, police brass from Hamden, Meriden and West Haven, the Yale police department as well as municipal leaders, and representatives from the federal agency Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms as well as the New Haven States Attorney Office. The shooting taskforce is an interagency, multi-jurisdictional project that focuses exclusively on firearms related crimes. Local governments participating include New Haven, East Haven, Hamden, Meriden, and Madison. Yale University, the ATF, FBI, and the State's Attorney are also partners in the taskforce. Earlier this year the re-start of the taskforce was announced. This press conference will provide an update on staffing, resources, and collaboration with taskforce partners. The briefing is slated to be held at 2 p.m. at New Haven Police Department headquarters at 1 Union Ave.
