The Historic Harrisburg Association has planned a landmark bus tour of historic Shipoke, Steelton, and Midland Cemetery.
Historic Midland Cemetery near Steelton is one of Pennsylvania’s oldest African-American burial grounds. The cemetery is one of the final resting places of former slaves, Civil War U.S Colored Troops, and generations of Harrisburg area business and community leaders.
Formerly Historic Harrisburg has made contributions to the non-profit Friends of Midland Cemetery. We have planned a special excursion tour on Saturday, August 7, that will take place in Historic Shipoke, the multicultural tapestry of Steelton, and Midland Cemetery.
This will be a bus tour, scheduled from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, parting from the Capitol Fountain. A complimentary lunch will be held at the historic Lochiel Hotel on the old Pennsylvania Canal between Harrisburg and Steelton.
Early-Bird prices are $40 for general admission and $30 for Historic Harrisburg Members.
