PUYALLUP, WA — A house fire on 9th Street Southwest injured two people, killed three house pets and closed several nearby roads Tuesday afternoon. Update: as of 5:36 p.m. all roads have been reopened. ***UPDATE*** All roads off 9th St SW, near the scene of the house fire are now open. Crews at scene of a house fire on 9th street SW. Ninth Street is closed in both directions. Please use alternate route. pic.twitter.com/kTWgjpqArU— Central Pierce Fire & Rescue (@CentralPierce) June 15, 2021 Initially, only 9th street was closed in the 2200 block, but as more emergency responders and police units have arrived on scene, 19th, 23rd, 31st and 15th were closed as well. ***HAPPENING NOW*** Police and Central Pierce Fire are currently on the scene of a house fire. Closed roadways at 19th Ave /9th St SW and 23rd Ave SW/ 9th St SW, partially closed at 31st Ave/ 9th St SW and 15th Ave SW/9th St SW until further notice. Please use alternate routes. pic.twitter.com/xvuIujMBDH— Puyallup Police (@PuyallupPD) June 15, 2021 Firefighters say two victims were rescued from the home, and have been taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, the family's dog and two guinea pigs were killed. Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire, which they believe began in the house's garage.
