Press release from Shreve Memorial Library:
June 15, 2021
After working years as a high school English teacher, Spearman began a new journey as an author. She brings to life the story of an eleven-year-old boy and his family recovering from a tragic loss in Matthew's Rise, a story set on Caddo Lake in northwest Louisiana. Spearman will share highlights of the story and sign copies of the book.
In Matthew's Rise, Matthew Morin and his family are trying to regain normalcy as they head to the family farmhouse after a tragic loss. There Matthew will build new friendships, investigate a suspicious fire, discover a Caddo Indian mound, and solve a mystery surrounding the area. As their attention turns to the enigmatic new neighbor down the road and their investigation grows, they find themselves in a race against time to save the burial site from desecration.
The book talk and signing will take place outside, on the campus of the North Caddo Branch. Social distancing is encouraged. The book talk is free and open to the public. The public may purchase paperback copies of the book for $6.95.
